Hey pals.
A fun filled colourful month marked by cheers, passion, emotions, celebrations and the entertainment of the highest order(read football) laden with the intermittent ballads of "Waka waka" and the beutiful, high spirited "waving your flag"..finally culminates today. :(
I was supporting Germany.(just because I supported them last 2 worldcups :) )
It was one of the youngest teams of the worldcup and without their captain "der feurer" Michael Ballack.
Even though Germany enjoys being considered as one of the most formidable contenders in every worldcup, not much was expected from this young inexperienced and to some extent Ballack-handicapped team. They were clearly the dark horses.
But they did well.Extraordinarily well.
Right from the match 1 they provided a plenitude of team play, lethally efficient counter attacks and most importantly a feast of goals.A slight glitch could have been the only blemish(Against Serbia) till Spain ended their glorious journey.
Though the third place win is always disconsolating, everybody enjoyed their unconvetional flamboyant game.
But at the end, like a true frustrated Indian sports fan I couldn't help mulling over India's chances of getting into competitions of such level.(WC,olympics)
Is it even realistic??...if yes the how long...10 yrs?? 100?? ever??...
Following are what I think could be the excuses.
We are not genetically stronger. We lack that sort of physique required at this level.
(Then how did Japan/Korea/China qualify.Whose average height and built is definitely shyer than most of the Indian population)
We lack the necessary infrastructure and funding required for the game of football.
(What about the poor underdeveloped African countries which make into worldcup. That too bearing some of the toughest competition in the world)
Football is not popular here.
(That might have been case few years back but not now definitely. With the increasing popularity of the EPL much of the youth are turning to football.
And as per the status quo football is anything But not popular in India.)
Cricket influence
(Now this is valid. One of the only outdoor sports which demands very little athleticism, fitness levels etc compared to other sports.Hence no wonder we are good at it.)
Corruption
(Spot on.Most of the control boards for sports in India are under some or the other misisters who lack the knowledge/experience/expertise except greed for that sport. For apparent reason.
No remedy for this other than the Utopian solution of flushing them all into toilet..)
We cant have quality players of the international level.
(I dont believe this...)
So summing it up,between India and the FIFA world cup lies an eternity.
But I am optimistic.Just want to cheer for our country in football world cup atleast once in my life time.
I know the above analysis was really not required in this mood but cant help it. lol
Also this world cup was further spiced by a certain 8-legged creature with psychic powers AKA Paul who picks his meal from the box labelled with the flag of a country which would supposedly win.Its really hilarious how people can come up with such stuff.Nevertheless he got all his predictions correct for this world cup. However ridiculous this affair sounds it did provide a different flavor of excitement.Obviously looking at his popularity other creatures from around the world had to show off their talents. (the parrots..the alligators)
It was a mini world cup of words on social networking sites as well..Esp facebook.
Will miss those squabbles.Putting on Inflamatory status on facebook...the debates....mocking other teams etc etc...it was superbly entertaining. :(
But then all the good things are short lived.Lets hope the Final today perfecty climaxes and bids Adieu to this colourful world cup of the most beutiful game in the world and lets hope the coming 4 yrs gallop along fast.
See ya.
PS: Neither supporting Spain nor Dutch today.Just hoping for a quality game.Hopefully going till the penalties.
PS 2: Ok.Had to edit the post after the final. It was as fierce as expected. And thankfully not at all disappointing. The match was showered with the confetti of yellow cards :D
I would have loved it to go till the penalties.
Anyways props for Spain!!The best team won.Although we would have prefered them to be not so mingy about the total number of the goals scored.(Seeing at the quality of the players they possess).Hard luck Oranje.
PS 3: Good news for us German fans as well.Thomas Muller deservedly got the prestigious Golden Boot for having scored 5 crucial goals and 3 assists.Hail Deutschland. :)

Probability is God is Probability
Maybe it has been stated before. But its fun to independently prove an existing theorem.(Besides its one of my favorite topics.hehe)
All it needs to prove it is one simple experiment.
Throw a coin 10 times.Lets consider getting a head all 10 times as success.
Now before every coin toss pray to god that it is a head.
Count the number of heads at the end of the 10 tosses.
Now perform the same experiment again.Only this time dont pray and just note down the number of heads.Repeat this as many times you want.
I am sure you wont be able to tell the God-influenced coin tosses from the normal coin tosses.Hence it is proved that the probability is as powerful/influential as god.But nothing is as powerul as god but the god.Hence Probability is god. :)
Let me also tell you from my personal experience.I was a very pious theist once...until I found God is a redundancy.
There were ample times when I prayed to god and did not get what I want. There were ample times when I didn't pray to god and I got what I want.
So you see...it really doesnt matter.Things happen the way they want to.There isnt an evidence substancial enough to vindicate the present of some god governing them. Its plain probability.Hence Praying to God translates to praying to probability which sounds kinda ridiculous.
Its been 2 yrs since I became an atheist. And frankly speaking nothing drastic(good/bad) has happened to me since.
When you think over it with a reasonable mind then you'll realise at some point that you dont "need" god anymore.Your conscience is capable enough to distinguish between right and wrong. And trust me Its a very cool position to be in. :)
PS: Its totally a personal opinion. You are free to disagree with me. :)

Hey
Nothing new this time..Just a cursory post to keep the vital signs of my blog intact :p
After the initial flurry of posts after posts I felt Ive run outta ammunition.lol
Or is it the case of Bolggers Block??!!..I dont know.
As far as poems are concerned,Had few subjects in mind but somehow couldnt get the words out of me.
Nothing strikingly interesting to write an article as well...
No great updates as such...Nothing life changing is happening since I took a job.
Guitars going good.Although I could as much as glance at my electric one unless its a weekend.
Office....well I've lost the track of whats happening there long back.
All in all Life is little busy right now.
Just hope I find some quality time,a fresh mind and good topics to doodle here again
Adios.

Oley!!...Oleyyyy!!
Hola amigos.
Spanish music(eminently the guitar) has always enthralled me.
I think the first time I heard a piece of it was in Tom & Jerry cartoon.
There was a bullfighting scene in which it is played in the back ground. It kinda struck a chord the moment I heard it. :)
Few years later I came to know that particular piece was called Flamenco.
The Flamenco is considered as a paragon of traditional Spanish music.Primarily its a combo of guitar with dance.(with additional people clapping for keeping a beat). The build of the guitar bear a resemblance to the classical guitar.(Made of Nylon strings)
Complex rhythm, powerful strumming, extremely melodious lead, also using guitar for percussion are some of the characteristics of flamenco.
For more info.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamenco
Came across few videos on youtube. They were mesmerising.
From the shear level of mastery required to pull out those embellishments on a guitar,Flamenco is the Zenith of guitar playing, all genres taken together.
Check these out.Hope you like them too.
It would take me a lifetime and few years more to be able to play like this. :p

All we lesser mortals can do is listen and relish them.Simply awesome

The Syco'logy.
Heya,
Before I began lemme post a comic from my favourite series. As a picture speaks a thousand words and certainly reduces the post size by a big chunk. So here :)
The whole Dilbert phenomenon isnt just a dry hypothetical satire.(For those who don't know dilbert, fire up www.dilbert.com,and start reading before its too late ;))
It is the harsh reality.More so in the corporate world.
How often do we find that the talented hardworking and deserving people find reporting to the relatively incompetent bosses(most of the times) who would generally not miss a single opportunity to jab their position onto them.
And then there is this one species which has adapted itself to this tyranny pretty well. ie sycophants.
No matter how big a jerk their boss is,they can manage a camaraderie with them.
And then people wonder why the boss is mysteriously biased towards certain few.Why he wouldn't hear a thing against them, why somehow the blame always comes on you even if its their fault. This never ends. Its omnipresent.Right from school..college..work you name it.
And why does this work...Well,who don't like praises.
I believe at subconscious level a part of us(most of us) always seeks for an applause, for a recognition.
Such people appear as bright fluorescent spots on a sycophant radar. They can smell such a person from a mile long.
All it takes to be in their good books is quench that crave by flattery, however insincere it may be.
Well this article isnt really aimed at giving them a flak. But rather to explore the other side of it.
I used to look very much down upon the flatterers.Like they are some kind of an abomination. But thinking about it from a realistic point of view,it is kinda justifiable to some extent and not as ugly as it sounds. To climb the corporate ladder it is imperative that you need to butter the joints for a smooth ascent.
Its reality and I hate it.
Some succumb to it.To some it comes naturally.
I myself find it very difficult to do that and I am sure many will share my sentiments here.Mind just doesn't permit me to and no its not a thing to be proud of to be frank.
Rather I sometimes feel I am at loss for my inability to do so.I call it one of the tricks in a bag you need to be well versed with to survive in this world.
Your relations with manager/TL are still a very big factor in your appraisal.Your chances of promotions are always leveraged by the rapport you have with your superiors.
Having said that let us not generalise.I have come across many people, very competent,knows-their-stuff type, who give a negative weightage to adulation.
But again it depends on your luck(like always) whether you will have such people as your superiors.
All are not so lucky. And that is when the "survival of the fittest" kicks in.Who wouldn't want to secure their opportunities and careers in this sinister competition.Flattery at an acceptable level when you have no other way out is I think OKAY.
For those accomplished ones, this would definitely be a catalyst in your career.
Summing it up,in a strictly acrid business point of view,I would vindicate sycophancy as a virtue...or better a low-rick high-returns investment.
And as far as me and my type is concerned,well...we don't have the capital in the first place...lol
So let me wrap it up by posting a very insightful SMS I received a few days back.
"Agar duniya me mehnat ki kadar hoti,to Gadha sabse jyada izzatdar hota" :p
Ciao

The rodents in my Home...
Today is one of the most important days for Mumbai..and for India as today is the Judgement day for Kasab.(no need of introduction)
Around an year ago,This only surviving guy along with his buddies, murdered around 6-7 people including the brave police officers Lt Karkare and Kamathe and others.(Among the various crimes they committed)
And now,17 months after the attack,we have a glimmer of hope that he will be hanged till his damnation.
17 Months!!..No wonder we are always on the receiving side of such attacks.
These assholes just know to find the loopholes in our superflawed law system,do the crime and get away with it.
Just like in Mumbai bomb blasts(93) where so many were released free of charges in a trial that itself took around a decade to done with.
And the irony on top of that is our "Just" system provides them with a defence lawyer to hear their side of the story.
Is this a judicial system or a joke.Which retards set these laws?
Its high time we should raise our voice against this. These rapes on our country would'nt stop until we have proper stronghold against such forces.
We need new laws.Or atleast strengthen the existing ones, those that will shakle these sociopaths faster.
Atleast then the bastards like kasab would think twice before commiting such act.
I know we feel all this rush for revolution just one day and then it either dies or sobers....Finally everyone raises their tolerance meter by few bars.
And Thats the tragedy of it.
Anyway the verdict is due today.Though I am keeping my fingers crossed for Kasab's death penalty,
I wouldnt be too surprised if he gets away with life sentence. Our honourable law system has made me (and many others) cynical enough over the years.
PS: Mr.Ujjwal Nikam, please keep up the good work.We are very proud of you.
PS 2:As per the latest update two convicts were released because of the supposedly "confusing" evidence..*Sigh*

I dream of "Gymie"
Hey Paisans
After a streak of Senti poems I thought of writing a humor poem.. :p
Ok.This one is dedicated to one unknown supercute girl who shows up in my office Gym once a blue moon.
Its not that we go to Gym to stare at pretty girls. But their presence definitely helps lift 5-10 kg more..hehe
So please take it in a right spirit. :)
For the record I don't even know her name... ;)
Just hope she magically stumbles upon this one someday. :)
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
There is a cutie in my Gym
There is a cutie in my Gym
When She comes..
Ah her grace..her elegance
The otherwise sweaty place
Flowers with a fragrance
Was she looking at me?
I turned to look while lifting a dumbbell
DAMN!!..I pulled my muscle
But it was definitely worth a swell
Don't blame those
Who cant help but stare
When she enters I could've sworn
She looks like a rose among us thorns
Then suddenly she stopped coming
Made us realise painfully
That the cute dreams are short-lived
As someone has said truly
Why have you deserted us
Girl..Where are you
Even your being there was enough
for some of us few
Weights have become unliftable
The cardio even more boring
You are needed girl
To provide that rush of adrenaline
Please come back
Dont make this place anymore grim
There was a cutie in my Gym
There was a cutie in my Gym
.
.
.
Cheers :)
PS : She got married.EOD :(
