Oley!!...Oleyyyy!!

Hola amigos.

Spanish music(eminently the guitar) has always enthralled me.
I think the first time I heard a piece of it was in Tom & Jerry cartoon.
There was a bullfighting scene in which it is played in the back ground. It kinda struck a chord the moment I heard it. :)

Few years later I came to know that particular piece was called Flamenco.
The Flamenco is considered as a paragon of traditional Spanish music.Primarily its a combo of guitar with dance.(with additional people clapping for keeping a beat). The build of the guitar bear a resemblance to the classical guitar.(Made of Nylon strings)
Complex rhythm, powerful strumming, extremely melodious lead, also using guitar for percussion are some of the characteristics of flamenco.

Came across few videos on youtube. They were mesmerising.
From the shear level of mastery required to pull out those embellishments on a guitar,Flamenco is the Zenith of guitar playing, all genres taken together.

Check these out.Hope you like them too.
It would take me a lifetime and few years more to be able to play like this. :p

  1. Hola Senor.

Flamenco is a great instrument. I particularly like Jesse Cook's works. FYI, there is a track of his called "Mario takes a walk"; which was copied by our photocopier Mr.Pritam for Dhoom.

Another lesser known instrument is the Tin whistle; produces great music. This instrument was mostly popularised by The Corrs with tracks such as Rebel Heart, Joy of life etc. I would recommend those strongly!
